Larry Hartsook, Hanshi

LTC(R) G. Larry Hartsook, US Army Special Forces (Green Beret) for 27 plus years. He attained the Enlisted Rank of First Sergeant, E8 with 9 years in the service. He applied for Officer Candidate School and graduated in 1980, returning to Special Forces as a Lieutenant/Team Commander. His skills in multiple martial arts styles were continually combat tested during his service to his country.  He trained over 45 years in numerous styles worldwide with dedication and determination to continually develop his mind, body, and spirit.  Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi of the Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu awarded him Junidan, Suigyo Happo Biken, 12th Dan status in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, and he has achieved 10th Dan(s) in the US Tai Karate Association, San Ryu Do, Karate for Christ International, Shinsei Hapkido and Tae Kwon Jutsu.  He holds several high high-level Dan rankings in numerous styles throughout the United States and internationally, earning him worldwide recognition.  

G. Larry Hartsook, Kudan, 9th Dan, Danzan Ryu Jujitsu (AJI) began his training at the age of 9 from his father who trained directly under Henry Seishiro Okazaki, Founder of Danzan Ryu and Bill Ah Moo. Danzan Ryu Jujitsu is officially documented as the first “mixed martial arts” style. It incorporated Jujutsu styles Yoshin-Ryu, Namba-Shoshin, Iwaga Ryu, Kosogabe Ryu, Kodankan Judo and several others.

G. Larry Hartsook has created numerous training programs in the military and civilian sectors such as Reality Based Proactive Defense Course™, Military/Law Enforcement Close Combative, Christian/Private Home School graded curriculum, and Mobile Training Security, Threat Based Assessments and Defense Courses. Listed as a “Subject Matter Expert” in Counter-terrorism, Security, Emergency Operations and Threat Based Assessments by the US Department of Defense (DoD), Northrop Grumman and CACI. Published book author and guest columnist in multiple publications.

He is a member of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), Association of Former Intelligence Officers (AFIO), International Association for Counterterrorism and Security Professionals, American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers, International Association for Counterterrorism and Security Professionals, Security Analysis and Risk Management Association (SARMA), Institute of Terrorism Research and Response Group, Security Analysis and Risk Management Association Group, Counter-Terrorism and Geopolitical Security Group, National Organization of Church Security and Safety Management (NOCSSM), Special Forces Association-Life Member, National Association of Professional Martial Artist, and United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame Inductee.
